Creating and Setting Up an Event

Events are the core of DVOX. An event brings together your venue, date, streams, and audio content for your guests.

Event Basics

An event includes:

  • Basic Information — Event name, dates, location
  • Streams — Audio feeds that guests can listen to (up to multiple streams per event)
  • Controller Assignments — Which DVOX hardware units are feeding audio
  • Customization — Logo, colors, branding for the guest interface
  • Visibility — Public (listed on dvox.live), Private (direct URL only), or Disabled

Before Creating an Event

Have ready:

  • Event name
  • Event dates (start and end)
  • Event location (street, city, state, postal code)
  • Event logo/image (optional but recommended)
  • Banner image (optional)
  • Color scheme/branding (optional)
  • List of audio streams you’ll offer
  • DVOX controller(s) to assign

Key Concepts

Events vs. Streams

  • Event — A single gathering on specific dates (e.g., “Annual Gala 2024”)
  • Stream — An individual audio feed within an event (e.g., “Main Hall”, “VIP Lounge”, “Overflow Room”)

One event can have multiple streams, each connected to a different DVOX controller or input.

Visibility

  • Public — Automatically listed on dvox.live during event dates
  • Private — Only accessible via direct URL (share via QR code or email)
  • Disabled — Hidden and inaccessible (use for testing or archived events)

💡

**Pro Tip:** Create your event a few days before the actual date to allow time for configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.
