Controllers Status
Your controller’s status is relative to its availability on your network. Understanding these statuses helps you quickly identify and resolve connectivity issues.
Status Indicators
ONLINE (Green)
Meaning: The controller is properly connected to your network and responsive.
Requirements:
- ✓ Unit is powered on
- ✓ Ethernet cable is connected
- ✓ Unit is whitelisted on the network
- ✓ Network has internet connectivity
- ✓ Unit has obtained an IP address via DHCP
Action: Ready for use. Can be assigned to events and streams.
OFFLINE (Red)
Meaning: The controller is not currently responding to server queries.
Possible Causes:
- ✗ Unit is powered off
- ✗ Ethernet cable is disconnected
- ✗ Unit is not whitelisted on the network
- ✗ Network connectivity issue
- ✗ Unit cannot reach the internet for synchronization
- ✗ Extended power outage
Troubleshooting Offline Controllers
Follow these steps if your controller is showing OFFLINE:
1. Physical Connection Check
- Verify the unit is powered on (arrow light is lit)
- Check that the Ethernet cable is firmly connected to both the unit and the wall jack
- Try a different Ethernet cable to rule out cable failure
2. Network Configuration Check
- Confirm the unit is whitelisted using its MAC address (on the device label)
- Verify the network has internet access
- Check if your network requires a splash page login (DVOX units may not pass through)
- Ensure VoIP/QoS prioritization is enabled if available
3. Power Cycle
- Turn off the DVOX unit using the power switch
- Wait 10 seconds
- Turn the unit back on
- Wait 5+ minutes for the unit to re-establish connection
- Check the status in DVOX Manager
4. Status Light Diagnostics
Check the arrow light indicator on the front of the unit:
| Light Status | Meaning | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Blue chasing | Booting up | Wait 5+ minutes |
| Yellow chasing | No network connection | Check Ethernet connection and whitelisting |
| Orange breathing | Firmware update in progress | Wait for completion, do not interrupt |
| White static | Ready | Should show as ONLINE in Manager |
| Off | No power | Check power connection and power switch |
5. Last Update Check
Note the “Last Online” timestamp:
- Recent timestamp = Recently connected (good)
- Old timestamp = Long time offline (network issue)
- “Never” = Has never connected (whitelisting issue likely)

- MAC address from device label
Best Practices
💡
**Prevention Tips:**
- Check controller status before each event
- Monitor the dashboard regularly for offline units
- Document any network issues with dates/times
- Keep controller location notes updated
- Test connectivity after any network changes
Device Status on Web Interface
For additional diagnostic information, you can also check the device status directly:
- Access the DVOX unit’s local IP address in a web browser
- View the device status page (if available)
- Check stream status and configuration
- Verify all inputs are properly configured
The Manager page provides the same information in a more user-friendly format.
